Antinioti Lake Corfu ( Korfu ) Greece

corfu_greece_antinioti_lakeThe picturesque Antinioti Lake lies after passing Acharavi, to the way to Kassiopi, in a magnificent area of great ecological interest. Its sweet and warm water meets the salty one, in a poetic coupling.

The reason is a huge reed bed that provides food as well as quiet hides and Holts without pollution.

It is an important wetland biotope, a nature reserve and has been designated as a protected area.A special place for quiet walks with the scent of eucalyptus, pine and sea saltiness.

Antinioti is a wetland situated on the northern coast of the island of Kerkyra (Corfu) and is important not least for the threatened Otter species Lutra-lutra, and many rare orchids, as well as the ecological balance of the area.

The site is characterized by a variety of habitats and on which human activity has exerted little influence. It is an area of great significance on an island like Kerkyra which is under great pressure from much building construction.

The lake and the surrounding area is a protected wildlife area due to the Flora and Fauna.

The Antinioti lake is also a fish breeding ground. The wild life area is known for its rare species of birds (at least 96 species have been spotted). This area is protected by law and very important for the Biotope.
